Jérôme Bel consists of a reading accompanied by video excerpts. The video excerpts shown on a screen must be projected in 16:9.

Space

A table and a chair must be made available by the performance venue and positioned at the front of the stage (first third of the stage in its depth), on the left side of the stage.
All videos are launched from a computer (Macbook brought by the company) from this table.

Video

The different videos are launched by the performer from the computer located on the stage. The different videos are launched by the performer from the computer located on the stage. Thus, there isn’t any Qlab file. The videos have been calibrated so that it is easily possible using any current software.

The installation of the projector and the screen must be done by the technical team of the theater following the instructions below.

- Screen placement and type:
Video projection screen to be hung on a bar or placed on a stand.
The screen must be located in the center of the stage, at the right distance from the audience.

- Placement of the video projector:
Ideally, the video projector is placed directly on stage in front of the screen and is connected to the computer on stage. Make sure to always respect the orthogonality of the image (trapezoid).

- Cables and connectors :
Video cables depending on the device, VGA or HDMI. In all cases, provide adapters (to Mini-display or HDMI) depending on the computer used on stage.

Sound

The sound comes out of the computer located on the stage. The general master is adjusted in the control room, and the performer can adjust the sound level from his computer.
A mini-jack connector is required to connect the control console to the computer.

Depending on the size of the room, a headset microphone connected to the sound booth is required.
The venue's sound manager will make sure that the microphone is open at the beginning of the performance (when the performer sits down at the table), and that it is closed when the bows are taken.

Usual sound diffusion. The general sound volume will be adjusted before the performance from the control room and can be modified during the performance from the computer.

Lights

The lights must be controllable from the stage (via a small console, a remote control or an iPod).

We need to be able to control
- The lights in the venue
- An LED projector (Profilo LED cut-out or equivalent)

This projector will be installed and adjusted to light a person sitting at the table, from head to toe.

Installation schedule

The organization of the set-up, the required personnel, are left to the discretion of the technical management of the venue. However, when the piece is performed by Jérôme Bel, the set-up of the stage, sound, lights and video must be completely finished by 11 am. on the day of the performance, at which time the sound and video last settings begin, followed by the rehearsal on stage.

Technical staff

A sound and light manager, as well as a video manager must be made available by the venue to ensure the management of the rehearsals and the performance.
