A performance near the end of the festival highlighted Rimbaud's famous line « Je est un autre » (« I is another »), that served as a leitmotif in this year's series of shows. It could have easily been the title of the strikingly original show by the director and choreographer Jérôme Bel, which left the audience both fascinated as well as irritated. (…)
The last performance displayed refinement from beginning to end. The working processes of current models of identification were made increasingly abstract. (…) Elements of representation were whittled away, and yet this process kept peaking through odd combinations. The actors would withdraw into the background in order to make room for the props, which were given a heightened focus until their very meaning was extended.
