(…) The uniqueness of Jérôme Bel is that he finds his inspiration in semioticians such as Ferdinand Saussure or Roland Barthes, rather than in the traditions of dance which he knows very well : the result is not dance, but a theatre of physical presence, in which Bel abruptly offers his actors to the audience, and lets their bodies or the objects linked to them tell their own story.
